BRIEF PROFILE ON THE CANDIDATES FOR THE VARIED ELECTORAL POSITIONS

Dr. Abbas Suleiman

-- FOR AEIAN PRESIDENT --

Is the current Director and Head of Environmental Assessment Department in Federal Ministry of Environment. His career started as a geologist, then onwards as an environmental scientist. He has since then occupied several positions as Technical Assistants to the Director/CEO of Abuja Environmental Protection Agency and the Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Environment. He became Deputy Director and Head EIA and later Director. He holds a Ph.D in Environmental Resource Management. He is a member of several professional bodies notably NMGS, SPE,AAAS, IAIA and fellow in NES, NCF and Chartered Institute of Loan and Risk Management. Honorary Fellowship NISP. He has several awards including Sustainability Public Servant of the Year 2021 and an Appreciation Award from the Actors Guild of Nigeria.

Engr. Chinyere Nnenna Igwegbe

Qualifications: – B.Eng. Water Resources & Environmental Engineering (Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State); PGD Conflict Management & Resolutions (Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife, Osun State); Exe. Masters in Business Administration (Metropolitan University, United Kingdom)

Current Job: – Certified Management Trainer that spans Power Sector, Real Estate, Water Resources, Environment, Renewable Energy and Mentorship programmes, also Co-Founder of “Bridging the Gap” (an NGO).

NWOGBIDI KINGSLEY CHIBUZOR FNES, NIBSA, MSSSN, NREPRES, NAGAK, AEIAN(IAIA), IRDI, AIEMA OSHA, LEauditor, was born on November 20, 1968, in Ahoada, Ede, Nigeria. He attended various schools and obtained a B.Sc in Animal and Environmental Biology (Zoology) in 1997, a PGD in Petroleum and Environmental Law in 2005, a PGDE in Education in 2008, a M.Sc in Natural Resources and Environmental Management in 2013, and a Ph.D in Natural Resources and Environmental Management in 2020. He has worked in various roles, including working as a warehouse staff in Nigeria Agip Oil Company, a science instructor, a research biologist, a marketing representative, a liaison officer for the Nigeria Environmental Society, an environmental studies and services coordinator, a general manager, an instructor, a lecturer, and a panel member for the “EIA” report reviewer office of the Minister at the Federal Ministry of Environment. He has also conducted professional jobs, including environmental quality assessments, environmental post-impact assessments, environmental evaluation studies, air quality assessments, post-impact assessments, and compensation claims.

Lady Cheta Nwabuike, FCIS, C.MIoD, GRCP, CCP, PIEMA

Lady Cheta Nwabuike is a seasoned Governance, Compliance, and Sustainability Practitioner with over 25 years of experience in various industries. She holds a B.Sc.Ed. from the University of Lagos and two MBAs from Lagos State University and the University of East London. She is currently a Doctoral candidate of Management at the Catholic University of St. Anthony of Murcia in Spain. Cheta has received training in Sustainable Business Strategy at Harvard Business School and Corporate Governance, Risk Management, Statutory Compliance, Ethics, and Business Sustainability both locally and internationally. Her professional experience spans across various industries, including communications, manufacturing, oil, gas, and power. She currently serves as an Executive Director at CE Power Solutions Nigeria Limited, a part of the Clean Energy Group in the UK, and heads the Legal, Compliance, Environmental, Social and Governance (E.S.G.) and Human Resource and Administration arms of the business. Cheta has also served as Company Secretary and currently sits on the boards of several companies.

Franklin D. Magada

Franklin D. Magada is a practicing Environmentalist, paternally from the oil rich state of Delta State, Burutu LGA and maternally from Bayelsa state, Ekeremor LGA. Study Biology Education at Delta State University, Abraka, Post graduate Diploma in Health Environment Safety and Security from Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun Warri and masters degree in Environmental Management and Toxicology from Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun Warri and currently running his PhD in Disaster Risk Management at University of Port Harcourt. He is the immediate past senior special assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Environmental Protection Agency Delta State in the past administration and currently running private environmental practices.

Mr. Oko Winner Ode

Winner has a background in Chemistry and over 8 years of experience in Environmental Consulting. His expertise includes Environmental Audits, Impact Assessments, Baseline Studies, Compliance Monitoring among others. He has worked across various sectors such as Telecommunications, Manufacturing, Agriculture, Energy, and Infrastructure, demonstrating a deep knowledge of Nigeria’s regulatory framework and International standards. Winner is also an active member of several professional bodies, reflecting his commitment to advancing environmental and social sustainability.

DR. Onyagbodor Oghogho Peter

-- FOR AEIAN FINANCIAL SECRETARY --

Qualifications: – B.Sc. Environmental Sciences (Esep Le Berger Universite, Cotonou, Republic of Benin); M.Sc. Animal Science, Nutrition, Production and Management and PGD Agriculture in Animal Science & Livestock Production (both from Benson Idahosa University, Benin-City, Edo State); recently completed Ph. D. Thesis in Environmental Animal Physiology

Current Job: – Heads the Animal Health and Physiology Unit Laboratory in the University of Port-Harcourt, Rivers State.

Stint with AEIAN: – Was Secretary of the Local Organizing Committee of the Maiden AEIAN Conference at University of Port-Harcourt (2019); Organizer of the Charlie Wolfe 2022 Symposium in Port-Harcourt.

DR. OSUALA FIDELIA IJEOMA

-- FOR AEIAN PUBLICITY SECRETARY --

Osuala Fidelia Ijeoma is an Associate Professor at the University of Lagos, Nigeria, specializing in Environmental Toxicology and Pollution Management. With 17 years of experience, she has taught, researched, and supervised undergraduate and postgraduate students. Her research covers monitoring, biological effects of heavy metals, endocrine disruptors, detergents, and pesticide effects on non-target organisms.

Osuala is a member of several societies, including the Nigeria Environmental Society (NES), Nigeria Society for Experimental Biology (NISEB), Zoological Society of Nigeria (ZSN), American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB), Society for Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC), Society for Environmental Toxicology and Pollution Mitigation (SETPOM), Third World Organization of Women in Science (TWOW), and Association for Environmental Impact Assessment Nigeria (AEIAN).

Osuala has published numerous papers in local and international journals, is a reviewer for many national and international journals, and has assessed several Ph.D. Theses in her area of specialization. She has also handled sensitive areas of administration at the University of Lagos, such as examination coordinators, time-table officers, exam officers, and Chairman of the NUC for Zoology Department.

Osuala has attended numerous training, conferences, colloquiums, webinars, and workshops both locally and internationally. She has anchored many events within and outside the University of Lagos as Master of Ceremony.

OLOYEDE, ADELANI JOHN, Esq., LL.B. B.L, M.Sc, FTP, PGD, RTP, MNITP, AICMC, ACIArb, AIDP-CRM, FICEN

Oloyede, Adelani John, Esq., is a Nigerian environmental consultant and lawyer. Born in 1960, he attended District Council School and Luther King’s College in Ile-Ogbo. He worked as a Laboratory Assistant at Boots Company Nigeria Limited and later obtained a National Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning from The Polytechnic, Ibadan. He later worked as a Secondary School Teacher and a Full Professional Diploma (FTP) in Urban and Regional Planning. He served in Katsina State for NYSC mandatory service and was appointed as the first Town Planning Officer II in Oyo State. He voluntarily resigned from his Civil Service job in 1997 to pursue further education. He earned an M.Sc. in Environmental Management from the University of Ado Ekiti and a Postgraduate Diploma in Estate Management from Federal University of Technology, Akure. He studied Law at Lead City University and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2020. Oloyede is an environmental consultant with Environmental Managers Consult Limited and a senior partner in Ade Oloyede and Company. He is a registered town planner and a member of professional bodies such as the Nigerian Bar Association, Institute of Town Planners, and ICEN.

NCHIMA SAMPSON MARTIN (FIPMA, FISEN, FCAI,, M.IoD, MNES, MWSO, MISPN, MCISM, MCIWM, aWMgr)

NCHIMA SAMPSON MARTIN holds various professional qualifications and certifications, including being the MD/EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR of Stellas Integrated Services Ltd, President of the Indigenous Contractors Association of Nigeria, Secretary General and Financial Secretary of the Certified Institute of Auctioneers Nigeria, and President of the Pan-Electeme Initiative. They have also served as the Chairman of the Newcastle Graduates Forum and the Chairman of the Professional Training & Certification Programs (PTCP). They are also an environmental consultant, engineering professional, auctioneering services professional, and procurement consultant. They have a Bachelor of Technology in Chemical/Petrochemical Engineering and a Post Graduate Diploma in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. They are also a member of various organizations, including the Institute of Directors, the Royal Institute of Foreign Affairs, the Nigeria Environmental Society, the Nigeria Society of Engineers, the Waste Management Association of Nigeria, the World Safety Organisation, the Certified Institute of Auctioneers Nigeria, and the African Youth Entrepreneurs. They have also completed certifications in SAP S/4HANA, CISCM, CIWMM, and digital marketing.

Engr. Olufunbi O. O. Sode

-- FOR AEIAN SOUTH - WEST CONDINATOR --

Engr. Olufunbi O. O. Sode, a graduate of the University of Bradford, graduated with a Master of Philosophy and MPhil degree in 1982. He returned to Nigeria and served in the Lagos State Government before joining the Federal Environmental Protection Agency (FEPA) in 1991. He was responsible for regulating the Manufacturing and Oil and Gas sectors, establishing State Environmental Protection Agencies.

After the creation of the Federal Ministry of Environment in 1999, he was transferred to the Headquarters to establish the Oil and Gas Division. The division successfully regulated the oil and gas sector, ensuring the restoration of oil-impacted sites and conflict resolution.

Sode contributed to the preparation of Standardized Guidelines for the Administration of Oil Spill Compensation in Nigeria and was nominated by the Ministry as a member of the Olokola Deep Sea and Free zone Development Study Implementation Committee. He was later appointed as a Deputy Director in the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) and actively involved in developing National Environmental Guidelines.

Sode was also the Zonal Director of the South-South and South-West zones, where he aimed to improve staff performance and mentoring. He achieved remarkable success through office restructuring and rigorous in-house strategy, leading to unsurpassed achievements in compliance monitoring and Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

After retiring in 2015, Sode is best suited as Coordinator of the South-West Zone of the Association of the Environmental Impact Assessors of Nigeria.

Ir. John Agbo Ogbodo

-- FOR AEIAN SOUTH - EAST CONDINATOR --

Ir. John Agbo Ogbodo is a Nigerian researcher and entrepreneur with expertise in forest surveying and remote sensing. He is the Founding Director of the Sahelian Institute for Bamboo Research and Entrepreneurship Development (SIBRED) at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) and a member of the International Network of Universities and Research Centers related to Bamboos (RIUCI). Ogbodo is also a PhD researcher at the University of Nigeria, Enugu, and has received the 2021 Gregory Award from the Society of American Foresters. He holds an MSc in Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation for Natural Resources Management and a Bachelor of Forestry, Wildlife and Rangeland Management Degree from the Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi-Nigeria. He is an expert representing Nigeria on the Global Taskforce on Sustainable Bamboo Management of the International Bamboo and Rattan Organization (INBAR). Ogbodo is also a Research Fellow and Board Member of the Centre for Water Resources and Climate Change, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, and a Research Associate with the Centre for Sustainable Development.

Dr. (Engr.) Abdullahi Mohammed Evuti

Qualifications: – B.Eng. Chemical Engineering (Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State); M.Eng. Chemical Engineering (Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State); Ph.D. Chemical Engineering (Universiti Teknologi Malaysia)

Current Job: – Deputy Dean, Faculty of Engineering, University of Abuja, F.C.T.

ABUBAKAR UMAR BICHI

-- FOR North-West Zonal CONDINATOR --

Born on October 14, 1986, in Sani Mai-Nagge, Gwale Local Government of Kano State, Abubakar Umar Bichi began his education in 1992 at Maitasa Special Primary School. He completed his primary education in 1997 and later attended Junior Secondary School Warure, Kano Day Science College, and Kano Day Science College. In 2004, he earned his Senior Secondary School Certificate. He enrolled at Bayero University, Kano, where he pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry in 2009.

In 2010, he participated in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and served at Government Secondary School Mararaba in Karu Local Government of Nasarawa State. In 2011, he joined the Federal Ministry of Environment, Abuja, where he was posted to the Department of Environmental Assessment. This role marked the beginning of a dedicated career in environmental management.

To further his expertise, he pursued additional qualifications, obtaining a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Environmental Resource Management from Nasarawa State University in 2015 and a professional Master’s in Environmental Resource Management in 2016. In 2018, he advanced his education by earning a Master of Science degree in Environmental Management from the International University of Bamenda in Cameroon. Currently, he is pursuing a PhD in Environmental Management at Bayero University, Kano.

Abubakar Bichi has participated in various workshops, trainings, and seminars, including the “Cisco IT Essential Training” organized by the National Technology Development Agency (NITDA), “Implementing and Managing E-Archiving/EDMS” organized by the Environmental Assessment Department of the Federal Ministry of Environment, “Bonga Pit Stop Campaign HSE Induction” organized by SNEPCO, and “ITEC Training Programme on Energy and Water Use Efficiency” conducted by The Energy and Resouces Institute, New Delhi, India.

Engr. Abdullahi Usman

-- FOR North - East Zonal CONDINATOR --

Engr. Abdullahi Usman, born on May 6, 1973, is a Nigerian engineer with academic qualifications in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Airport Engineering, and Civil Engineering. He has held positions at the Nigerian Institution of Procurement Engineers (FNIProcE), Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (FNICE), Institute of Industrialists and Corporate Administrators (FIICA), Nigerian Institution of Highway and Transportation Engineers (NIHTE), Nigerian Institution of Environmental Engineers (NIEE), and the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).

He has received numerous awards, including a Merit Award for Outstanding Public Service as Icon of Humanitarian Service by the Northern Youth Assembly of Nigeria (NYAN) and a SYRUP Ambassador for outstanding contribution to nation building and fighting drug abuse in Northern Nigeria. He has also been recognized for his excellence in transparency and integrity by the Institute of Industrialists and Corporate Administrators (IICA).

Usman has worked as the Director of Physical Planning, Works and Procurement at Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic Bauchi for eight years and retired voluntarily in 2021. He has also held various other governmental and academic positions, including Rapporteur for the Federation of African Engineering Organizations (FAEOs), Member of the NSE Products Endorsement Committee, Chairman of the PTA of Fed Govt Girls College Bauchi, North East Coordinator of the Nigerian Institution of Procurement Engineers, and member of the Board of Fellows.
